Renee-Louise Carafice's third album "Power Animals" is undoubtedly her most provocative, disturbing and innovative album yet.
Recorded completely alone in a bedroom using only toy instruments and the pinhole microphone on her laptop computer, Carafice sought to recapture her childhood love of lo-fi home recording as a way of total escape. All mistakes and errors were left in the recordings, leaving the tracks genuine and intimate in a way that no studio album could have captured. Written and recorded during a time of intensive therapy, this album more than any of her others deals alarmingly honestly with concepts of hate, shame, loss and repair. The tracks on this album are like passionate handwritten letters: letters of hatred, letters of apology, and love letters to a broken self.
